For their exhibition at Whitechapel Gallery, Intoart presented work made in their studio addressing questions about collective action and individual practice. Looking outward from their studio, Intoart’s activities inquisitively negociate gallery education and curatorial departments.
‘See The Revolutionary Art Exhibit revealed how challenging it was to present the group’s practice, outside the studio, without explicitly referencing disability or education. It emphasised the importance of Intoart as a robustly critical art project, presented in mainstream art contexts. Ultimately, it indicated possibilities for describing art and disability beyond the realms of education, participation and outsiderness.’ – Marijke Steedman
