In the Stendhal Syndrome, healthcare and art meet. Apparently Visual Art can be so fascinating that it can drive you round the bend. From here on it is only a very small step to the other link between art and healthcare. After all, the history of ‘Art Brut’ and later on ‘Outsider Art’ is rooted in healthcare.
The uniqueness of people lies in its ability to create something that wasn’t there before, the autonomous power of art brings people astonishment, renewal and madness. This book is about special people who have been able to work in a studio due to a healthcare organization. Atelier Herenplaats has worked with this target group for the last 15 years and has proved to be very successful. Over the past few years a lot of people have come by to take a look at how we work.
